Montgomery County Legislature approves batch of resolutions including EV charger construction and utility agreement

The Montgomery County Legislature on Tuesday approved a slate of routine resolutions that included contracts for electric vehicle charging-station construction, a new utility-services agreement for public works and several personnel and budget adjustments.
The meeting opened with Chair Papp calling the roll and reading recent obituaries before the body took up resolutions. The legislature voted in favor of Resolution 1 70, authorizing the county executive to sign a contract for construction services for electric vehicle charging stations; the motion carried on a voice vote. The body also approved a new agreement with Constellation Energy to cover public works utility expenses and accepted an amendment to the 2026 operating budget to establish a network coordinator position while abolishing another IT post.
Other measures the legislature approved included: a retitling of the deputy commissioner of health and human services position to deputy commissioner of social services (Res. 160); restructuring several information-technology roles (Res. 161–163); authorization for the county executive to sign a rabies-specimen services contract with River Valley Veterinary Services (Res. 164); authorization of a New York State indigent legal services contract (Res. 165); adjustments tied to CHIPS highway-improvement funds (Res. 166); a declaration that the county will act as lead agency on a matter before the body (Res. 168); setting a public hearing date for the college operating budget (Res. 172); adoption of policy and practice guidelines for 2027 budget priorities (Res. 173); confirmation of a representative to the county workforce development board (Res. 174); and adoption of local law F (Local Law 7 of 2026), authorizing conveyance of property (Res. 175). Resolution 1 76 approving the abstract of audited claims was also approved.
Chair Papp called each measure and, where discussion was requested, no substantive debate was recorded on the floor; each item was taken by voice vote and recorded as passed. The clerk confirmed there were no communications to report before the votes began.
The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.; follow-up committee work and any necessary implementation steps were referred to the appropriate departments.
