The Lake of the Woods School District board approved a set of routine personnel and contract items on May 18, including a varsity coaching hire, a K9 detection contract for the 2026–27 school year and an increase in the charge for a single milk purchase.
Trustees voted to appoint Brian Saither as the varsity football coach (motion by K. Johnson; second by Hack). The motion passed by voice vote.
The board also approved a contract with Interquest Detection K9 for the 2026–2027 school year (motion by B. Johnson; second by Hayes). A trustee asked for clarification about the provider; staff said Interquest is based in New York and the teams are scheduled to visit three times per year.
On policies, trustees approved the second reading of the listed policy updates (motion by K. Johnson; second by B. Johnson). That motion passed by voice vote.
Jill Olsen, who oversees food services, requested approval to raise the cost of a single milk purchase (applicable only when a student brings a home lunch) to 45 cents to reflect rising supplier costs. "We're hoping that you guys will approve to increase a single milk purchase to 45 cents," Olsen told the board. Trustee Sever moved to approve the change and B. Johnson seconded; the motion passed by voice vote.
Board business also included approval of invoices, financial statements, bank reconciliations and purchase card statements (motion by Sever; second by K. Johnson), and approval of minutes from April 23 and April 27 (motion by B. Johnson; second by Sever). Each motion was advanced and approved by voice vote. The meeting adjourned at 6:48 p.m.
