Commissioners hear public comment on Red Lodge workforce housing project; point-of-contact to be placed on Dec. 16 agenda

Commissioners for Carbon County heard public comment on Dec. 4 that local partners are advancing a workforce housing project and asked the county to name a point of contact.
Commissioner Bill Bullock reported he and Administrative Officer Angela Newell had met with the Red Lodge Community Foundation and HABCRO, which requested the County designate a single point of contact for the project. Bullock said the planned homes are intended to be three-bedroom, two-bath units with garages located near one another. Newell told the board she would place the point-of-contact designation on the county’s Dec. 16 agenda.
Newell also reported she had spoken with Cyrina Allen, Tom Kohley, Cody Atwood and Kate Asbury about emergency alert systems and said the county is considering whether to use a notification system for non-emergency items such as roadwork; the board is exploring associated costs. No procurement decision was made at the meeting.
The comments came during the public comment period; no formal action on the workforce housing project or alert systems was taken on Dec. 4, though the point-of-contact item is scheduled for further consideration on Dec. 16.
