Carbon County commissioners report road repairs, gravel-pit updates and local infrastructure projects

Carbon County Commissioners met Nov. 25, 2025, and spent much of the session on district-level infrastructure and road maintenance updates. Commissioner Scott Miller (District 1) listed recent and upcoming work on county roads, gravel pits and related equipment readiness.
Miller said snowplows are ready and the county purchased new salt sand. He reported that paperwork for the Boggio gravel pit has been sent to the State, that Zentner pit needs reclaiming, and that work at the Tucker gravel pit is deferred until spring. Philips Pit has produced about 15,000 yards of crushed gravel, Miller said, and county crews have repaired a sink hole on Dutch Lane and temporarily fixed a culvert on Silvertip. He said roughly 95% of county culverts are cleaned out and all road equipment is running.
Miller named priority roads for future attention — Robertson Draw, Meeteetse, Musgrave, River View, Lovers, Elk Basin, Selmes and Bluewater — and said he is meeting with Stahly Engineering about Hergenrider Road. He told the board the county received floodplain approval for Golden Lane and that an Elbow Creek project is estimated to begin in spring or summer. Miller also reported repairs near the Fromberg school and said new housing in Fromberg is under development.
Commissioner Bill Bullock (District 3) told the board a new bridge by Luther is complete and that he recently received an updated snowplow suitable for both asphalt and gravel surfaces. He also noted changes to requirements for Senior Center meal programs and said an Interlocal Agreement with Red Lodge on airport management remains under negotiation.
Commissioner Scott Blain (District 2) reported completion of road construction and painting on Boyd/Cooney Road, cleanup of several cattleguards, and ongoing gravel hauling. Blain said Bridgemont has hired a case manager to staff a Red Lodge office part-time and secured grants for suicide prevention and mental-health services. He added that Joliet’s water tower is functioning and that Riverstone Health relocated its Joliet site. Blain explained that a tax-assessment increase for Edgar sewer was offset by a reduction in a lighting assessment.
The session also noted community investments: Miller said Bridgers RV Park and county-funded library improvements received county funding and that Beartooth Little League is coordinating with the county to rebuild a baseball field. Stahly Engineering is pursuing grant opportunities to update Belfry sidewalks, Miller said.
The board recorded these reports as part of routine district updates; no formal votes were taken on the projects described.
