Commissioners renew MOU with Beartooth RC&D after group reports $599,098 in local loans

Beartooth RC&D representatives on Nov. 13 updated Carbon County Commissioners on economic development activity in the county and persuaded the board to renew an existing memorandum of understanding.
Myrna Lastusky, Nan Knight and Brad Ike reported the organization has facilitated $599,098 in loans to county businesses and projects, creating or retaining 38 jobs. They said five revolving-loan-fund loans totaled $523,098 and that the Brownfields program has assessed three sites using $46,615 in funding. The presenters said the group filled its project-manager position and completed a Bozeman Trails Mapping booklet of local trails.
Discussion touched on county priorities, including efforts to enhance the fairgrounds to generate revenue. Commissioner Scott Miller moved to renew a Memorandum of Understanding between the Carbon County Commissioners and Beartooth RC&D; Commissioner Scott Blain seconded and the motion carried.
The MOU renewal preserves the existing partnership between the county and the nonprofit, which provides loan, technical-assistance and project-support services in Carbon County.
