County Attorney Colin told the board the signed agreement includes a two‑year notice period for the county to terminate and a 30‑day early termination right for Verizon. The lease contains annual rate increases negotiated by county staff and several terms the board requested to protect county interests. "Out is better than no outs," Colin said, noting that the negotiated two‑year county notice is more protective than prior versions lacked any county exit option.
Supervisors said they wanted the flexibility to revisit tower arrangements if future communications or county needs changed. The board approved the lease by voice vote.
