Perryton ISD OKs 50/50 shared speech-therapist agreement with Gruver ISD

District staff explained Gruver is not part of the district’s Special Education Service Arrangement (SSA), so the interlocal agreement allows the district to treat the employee as a shared resource and have Gruver pay half of her salary in exchange for half of her service time. Staff said Gruver’s board had already approved the arrangement and that Susie Hugley helped assemble the agreement.
A trustee noted the arrangement should not reduce services for Perryton students; staff replied that recent staffing (including hiring an SLPA) gives the district capacity to share the therapist without harming local services. A motion to approve the agreement was moved, seconded and passed 7-0.
