Rebecca Peterson, the city’s communications and engagement manager, presented a year‑end review to the Common Council outlining the department’s 2024 work and priorities for 2025.
Peterson said the city added a multi‑page newsletter insert in the activity guide, began a new resident welcome‑postcard program, redesigned the water utilities website and worked with departments on online bill‑pay improvements. She highlighted the Parade Memorial tile project and more than 25 community tile events that engaged residents during the memorial’s design and installation.
Peterson reported continued growth in the city’s social platforms and weekly email newsletter; she cited metrics included in the staff report (platform followings and top posts) and said the city has implemented an AI search on its website as a pilot. She also noted internal engagement work (leadership training, “Tony time” monthly employee updates) and said 2025 priorities will include implementing the city strategic plan and a website revamp.
The presentation was informational; no council action was required. Peterson invited feedback and suggested the council help promote signups for newsletters and engagement events.
