The Beaufort County School Board voted after executive session to authorize the superintendent to negotiate and, upon successful negotiations, execute architectural contracts with McMillan Pazden Smith of Charleston and Moseley Architects, also of Charleston, for renovation and modification projects.
The motion was made by a board member who spoke during the executive-session report and was seconded. Chair (Speaker 1) called for in-room affirmations by voice and hand; the chair announced the motion carried, and the board directed the superintendent to complete contract negotiations.
Board members gave no extended public debate on the floor after the motion was read; a technical question from one member was clarified and the maker confirmed the move would allow staff to finalize terms and return any required documentation to the board. The board recorded no further amendments or procedural conditions in open session.
The vote was announced as carried by the chair; staff were instructed to proceed with contract negotiations and return to the board with executed agreements once negotiations are complete.
