Cohoes Common Council unanimously approves budget amendment, six resolutions and two ordinances

The Cohoes Common Council unanimously approved a package of fiscal and administrative measures during its March 24 meeting, including an amendment to the FY2026 budget and multiple policy resolutions and ordinances.
Resolution No. 9, an amendment to the annual fiscal-year 2026 budget, was moved by Council Member Bill McCarthy and seconded by Council Member Izzo and approved on a unanimous 'AYE' vote. The council also adopted Resolution No. 10 declaring April as Fair Housing Month in Cohoes (moved by Council Member Higgins; seconded by Council President Biggs).
Other measures that passed without recorded opposition included Resolution No. 11 (a shared-services agreement with the Village of Green Island, moved by Council Member Soloyna); Resolution No. 12 (authorizing revocable licenses for city property and service agreements with youth leagues and public-service organizations, moved by Council President Biggs); Resolution No. 13 (supporting increased state aid to municipalities, moved by Council Member Higgins); Resolution No. 14 (a SEQRA Type II determination for the Manor Avenue Sewer Rehabilitation, Replacement and Separation Project, moved by Council President Biggs); and Resolution No. 15 concerning Internet Solutions (IGS) Equitable Business Opportunities systems (moved by Council Member McCarthy).
On ordinances, the council approved Ordinance No. 6 authorizing resurfacing and/or repaving of certain city streets (moved by Council Member McCarthy; seconded by Council Member Soloyna) and Ordinance No. 7 granting an easement to Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation and Verizon New York, Inc. in, over, on and through 150 North Mohawk Street (moved by Council Member McCarthy; seconded by Council Member Izzo). In all cases recorded in the minutes, councilmembers voted 'AYE.'
The approvals collectively clear funding and regulatory steps for capital work and intergovernmental agreements. The meeting moved to executive session at 7:23 p.m. and then adjourned.
