Pepper Pike City Council adopts budget changes and approves vehicle and infrastructure contracts

The Pepper Pike City Council used its June 24 meeting to adopt several budget and procurement actions, including an appropriations amendment, a preliminary tax budget for 2027 and multiple infrastructure contract awards.
Council approved Ordinance 2026-18, an amendment to the city's appropriations ordinance, after a motion to suspend the rules and adopt on the same night passed by roll call. Council also adopted Resolution 2026-21 to set the city's 2027 tax budget, a routine step that initiates the property-tax rate process later in the year.
On capital and maintenance spending, council authorized the police chief to purchase and upfit a 2026 Jeep Gladiator for community outreach and school resource use with a not-to-exceed authorization of $75,000; staff said the purchase was budgeted and the vehicle will also serve utility functions for road closures and events.
Council awarded the 2026 asphalt program to the low bidder (identified in the meeting as Roak), which staff said will fund spot repairs and resurfacing work on Cedar, Belgrave and other city streets, with construction expected to start in late August. Council also awarded the 2026 concrete repair program to TC Construction for an amount not to exceed $165,800; staff described TC as an experienced local concrete firm and said the bid structure allows flexibility to address spot repairs as needed.
All recorded roll-call votes on these items were affirmative. After completing legislative business, council announced community events including the Taste of Pepper Pike and a July 4 parade, then voted to adjourn into executive session to discuss appointment and compensation of city employees.
