The Red Bank Historic Preservation Commission reviewed a master checklist for its Certified Local Government (CLG) application and discussed next steps, training requirements and supporting documentation.
Staff noted the application is due in March 2027 and that the materials should reflect activities during the prior calendar year. Commissioners discussed options to meet the annual training requirement, including attending conferences, arranging a targeted training session from the State Historic Preservation Office, or completing online prerecorded modules. Several members asked staff to identify specific topics and accessible online training options for commissioners who cannot attend in person.
Commissioners also agreed to submit tailored résumés to support the CLG application; staff suggested a target of September for commissioners to provide their résumés so that the packet could be assembled with sufficient lead time. Staff further said the adopted ordinance incorporating state and national registry sites into borough code will be included as documentary evidence for the application; a signed ordinance copy was confirmed available for inclusion.
Staff will work with commissioners offline to identify training topics and to gather résumés and ordinance evidence so the application packet can be completed in advance of the March 2027 deadline.
