The San Diego Unified Board of Education on June 23 adopted the 2026–27 Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) and the 2026–27 district budget. Trustees approved revisions to the LCAP that the county required to elaborate on the Goal 5 Equity Multiplier; Trustee Hazan praised added emphasis on foundations-aligned TK progress and expanded early-literacy supports for TK–2.
The board also adopted the 2026–27 district budget after a second reading; staff said there were no significant changes since the first reading. The Extended Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) plan was presented for first reading. Toby Pace and staff described using spring i-Ready scores to inform differentiated summer instruction, expanding math instructional minutes from a prior sample schedule to 45 minutes where feasible, and rolling out professional development for primetime staff to increase moderate-to-vigorous physical activity and unstructured outdoor play.
Trustees called for continued attention to attendance-driven results and for future reporting on the summer program’s impact on student outcomes.
