Cridersville council approves summer hires, equipment sales, appropriations amendment and donations

The Village of Cridersville council approved a series of administrative and fiscal measures at its April 14, 2025 meeting.
Motions and votes: the council authorized Village Administrator Jarid Kohlrieser to hire two summer-help employees at up to $13.00 per hour (motion by Eric West, seconded by Bailey; passed 6-0). The council renewed town liquor permits (motion West, seconded Lauck; passed 6-0). The council authorized Fire Chief Rick Miller to sell a Freightliner Rescue apparatus for $55,000 to North Baltimore and directed reimbursement of the fire department for expenses related to the ambulance and Freightliner Rescue (motion West, seconded Bailey; passed 6-0). The council approved Resolution 2511, amending appropriations for current expenses and declaring an emergency (motion West, seconded Cook; passed 6-0).
Other approvals and community items: the council approved a $500 donation to the Cridersville Garden Club (motion Lauck; passed 6-0). Fire Department reports included a Fire Marshal grant award of $11,041 toward equipment purchases and notification that the old ambulance sold for $14,000. The mayor announced meeting-date changes: the May council meeting will be May 6 at 10 a.m. at Cridersville Elementary; the June meeting will be June 2 at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall.
Executive session and land acquisition: the council entered executive session at 9:25 p.m. to discuss land acquisition (motion West, seconded Lauck) and exited at 10:00 p.m. After the session the council voted to allow the village to participate in the Jerry Meyer auction on April 19 for land acquisition (motion West, seconded Lauck; passed 6-0). The meeting adjourned following that vote.
