The Village of Cridersville council voted unanimously March 10 to reimburse the fire department $31,529 to cover a sales commission and equipment costs tied to a new tanker.
Fire Chief Rick Miller told council the old tanker was sold for $95,000 and that the village expects to receive those funds soon. Miller also said the department received a $2,500 deposit from a Florida buyer for an ambulance parked behind the garage; the ambulance’s total sale price is $14,000 and the buyer is scheduled to collect it the first week of April. Chief Miller said the reimbursement figure includes $6,650 in commission and $24,879 for additional equipment on the new tanker.
Chief Miller reported recent activity totals of 76 EMS calls and two fire calls for the month (78 total; 166 year-to-date). He added that the department was awarded $11,041 of a $12,000 Fire Marshal grant he requested; the grant will fund a thermal-imaging device, two portable generators for new trucks, a Honda generator for interior lights and four gas meters.
Council Member Steve Numbers moved to reimburse the department $31,529.00; Dylan Lauck seconded the motion and it passed 5-0.
The council action follows the equipment sales and the partial grant award; council did not set additional funding sources during the meeting.
