Resident reports hybrid wolf-dog attacks; council to review vicious-dog rules

At the Sept. 8 council meeting, resident Crystal Przekop told officials that while walking her dogs on Reichelderfer Road they were attacked by hybrid wolf dogs, prompting safety concerns for residents and other animals.
Police Chief Donnie Chiles said he contacted the dog warden and issued roughly eight citations to the owners. Councilmember Shaun Wenrick told the council the same dogs had previously broken their chain and attacked his dogs in June. Councilmembers discussed whether the village’s existing ordinances cover the incident or whether an ordinance amendment is warranted; they did not adopt any ordinance changes at the meeting but agreed to review the matter further.
The council’s minutes record that staff will examine current ordinances and return with any recommendations.
