The Village of Cridersville council on Sept. 8 voted unanimously to amend the village’s fiscal-year appropriations, accept tax rates from the county budget commission, adopt the county’s 2026 alternate plan for Local Government Funds distribution, and establish a municipal cybersecurity policy.
Council passed Resolution #2518, amending permanent appropriations for current expenses for 2025. The motion to adopt the amendment was moved by Councilmember Dorrance Thompson and seconded by Councilmember Eric West; the motion passed 5-0. Council then approved Resolution #2519, accepting the amounts and rates determined by the budget commission and certifying the necessary tax levies to the county auditor; that motion was moved by West and seconded by Joe Bailey and passed 5-0. Council approved Resolution #2520, which accepts the 2026 alternate plan of distribution of Local Government Funds for Auglaize County (moved by Thompson, seconded by Bailey), also by a 5-0 vote.
Council also adopted Resolution #2521 to establish a cybersecurity policy and mandate specified rules concerning ransomware and related protections. Eric West moved the resolution, Shaun Wenrick seconded, and it passed unanimously.
On ordinance business, the council completed third reading and adopted Ordinance #1715, which amends Ordinance #1712 to allow the village to hire auxiliary police officers and sets pay ranges for those hires. The motion to adopt was moved by West, seconded by Bailey, and passed 5-0.
Taken together, the votes formalize the village’s 2025 spending adjustments, authorize 2026 tax levies consistent with the budget commission’s determinations, and add a cybersecurity policy intended to address ransomware and related risks. The council recorded all motions and seconders in the minutes; no roll-call dissent or abstentions were recorded. The council adjourned following these actions.
