Mansfield ISD honors students, teachers and staff for state and national awards

MANSFIELD, Texas — Trustees spent a large portion of the board brief recognizing student and staff accomplishments across the district.
The board honored April and May elementary "school board superstars," citing virtues such as character and citizenship. Mansfield High School cheerleaders were recognized for winning first place in the large varsity division at the UCA National Championship in Orlando, marking the district's first UCA national title.
Brenda Norwood STEM Academy was named an ITEEA STEM School of Excellence for 2025–26. Students also earned honors at the Texas Science and Engineering Fair and the C-SPAN StudentCam competition: Cheyenne Youssef of Jerry Knight STEM Academy won first place in mathematics at the state fair and placed second in the middle school division of the StudentCam documentary contest for a project titled "An Unfinished Promise."
The district's business and finance department received multiple professional awards, including the TASBO 2026 Award of Excellence in Financial Management and ASBO recognitions; staff member Cody Cannon was named a TASBO Rise Award recipient.
Trustees also recognized winners in Business Professionals of America, the Texas State German contest, DECA state competitions and the VASE visual arts competition. Yousef Dorsett, a Lake Ridge High School junior, earned the Texas Art Educators Association Gold Seal for his pottery and will have the piece tour Texas exhibits.
The recognitions segment included many named schools and students across the district; the oral brief did not present contested claims or vote actions tied to the honors.
