Residents oppose proposed dog‑ordinance changes; board keeps ordinance on hold

Chair Mike Helman said the board would not respond to public comments during the open forum and that the dog‑ordinance review had been tabled until the township attorney provides further guidance. The board reopened its meeting after a Planning & Zoning session and added nuisance complaints to the agenda before approving the amended agenda by a 4‑0 vote.
During new business the board also received two nuisance complaints: one property (ID 216100332201) was reported to have four dogs and was told it may need to apply for an interim use permit or a dog‑kennel permit if the number of animals persists; another property (ID 216100332202) was reported for exceeding the allowed number of horses per acre, and Chair Helman said he would check with the county on permitted animal density.
The town will revisit the dog‑ordinance matter after attorney review. Residents seeking action on nuisance complaints or ordinance changes should expect the issue to be placed on a future agenda once the board has legal guidance.
