Page County supervisors approve sheriff contract, Mediacom fiber permit and library appointments

At its June 23 meeting the Page County Board of Supervisors approved a Mediacom overhead fiber permit, a law-enforcement 280 agreement with Essex (no rate increase this year), appointed Paul Anderson to the VA board, adopted a meeting-posting resolution under state law, and approved Ellen Christensen to the Shenandoah Public Library board.
The Page County Board of Supervisors approved a series of routine items at its June 23 meeting in the Page County Courthouse.
The board voted to allow Mediacom to install overhead fiber near 212th Place south of Shenandoah, clarifying the installation will be overhead rather than underground. The board also approved a 280 law-enforcement agreement with the town of Essex covering July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027; the Sheriff stated the rate did not increase this year but likely will require adjustment next year and reported Essex "believes that things are going well." Voice votes on these motions were recorded as "Aye."
The board appointed Paul Anderson to serve on the VA board (one application was received; Anderson is currently on the board) and approved Ellen Christensen to the Shenandoah Public Library Board for a six-year term from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2032. The library director, Carrie Fault, submitted a letter recommending Christensen and noted she will replace Mary Ann Gibson, who completed two full terms.
Members approved a resolution (Resolution 26-2026) adopting a posting location for Page County agendas in response to a recent amendment to Iowa's open meeting statute. The resolution directs the Page County Auditor to post meeting agendas, including time, date and place, on the outside north glass door of the Page County Courthouse and specifies the posting period from June 23, 2026 through January 4, 2027, with annual designation to occur at organizational meetings thereafter.
The board also approved claims and the minutes from the June 16 meeting, set the next meeting for Tuesday, June 30 at 3:10 p.m., and adjourned.
