Wildwood approves multimillion-dollar contracts for lead service-line replacement and related LCP work

Key approvals included Resolution 255-6-26 authorizing DeBlasio & Associates to perform engineering and planning services for the Lead Service Line Replacement Program (survey, engineering design and planning phase services) in an amount not to exceed $1,150,000, and Resolution 257-6-26 awarding contract to South State, Inc. for Lead Service Line Replacement Program — Phase 2, Contract 2, in the amount not to exceed $6,641,489.00. The board also authorized contracts for LCP activities with Appalachia Hydrogeologic & Environmental Consulting, LLC (Resolution 253-6-26, not to exceed $617,210.00) and David A. Stires (Resolution 254-6-26, not to exceed $101,470.00).
The package of resolutions was moved by Commissioner Krista McConnell and seconded by Commissioner Steve Mikulski; the roll call recorded three yes votes and the measures passed. During the Engineer’s Report, Marc DeBlasio of DeBlasio & Associates told the board the replacement effort will affect “approximately 300–400 lines.”
Other related items approved included a grant award contract with Cape May County ($5,000) for a youth art program (Resolution 256-6-26), authorization for Triad Associates to prepare a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant application (Resolution 271-6-26) and routine bill payments totaling $2,511,124.19 (Resolution 272-6-26). The City Clerk noted Resolution “G” had been stricken from the agenda and will be considered at a later meeting.
Officials said the intent of the contracts is to accelerate replacement of lead service lines and to secure technical and grant support; DeBlasio & Associates will provide survey and design ahead of construction. The resolutions include standard contract oversight and reporting requirements; schedule and start dates were not specified at the meeting.
