Commission to mark Perkins Farm conservation easement and install posts after mowing incident

The Waterford Conservation Commission voted unanimously on May 14 to hire a surveyor and install boundary posts and signs after staff presented an email and photos documenting unauthorized mowing inside the Perkins Farm Road conservation easement.
Staff shared an email dated May 8, 2026 from resident Brooke Guetti of 12 Perkins Farm Road reporting that landscaping staff had accidentally mowed a portion of the conservation easement adjacent to her property. Staff also provided photos dated May 12, 2026 showing the extent of mowing within the easement to the west of the residence.
Commissioners discussed measures to prevent recurrence and approved a motion to hire a surveyor to mark the boundary of the conservation easement and the adjacent right-of-way and to install a minimum of three posts with signs along the eastern boundary and a minimum of two posts with signs along the southern boundary. The motion, made by Commissioner Wade Thomas and seconded by Commissioner Keith Kriet, passed 6-0.
The action directs staff to obtain surveying and signage to clearly delineate the easement and right-of-way to reduce future accidental mowing of conservation land.
