YMCA of the Sand Hills project pauses; town to accept parcel reconveyance

Jeff Darling, who has participated in project discussions, was not present; staff summarized that the YMCA is prepared to transfer the parcel back to the town under the transfer’s reversion clause.
Town Manager Cameron Parsons said county staff will not charge a tax stamp for the reconveyance because of the reversionary nature, and recommended the town accept a deed reconveying title. Council agreed to have staff prepare the reconveyance paperwork and to calendar the acceptance for the July meeting so clean title is recorded in county records.
What happens next: Staff will research any title or administrative matters and prepare a deed acceptance for council consideration at the July meeting; the town will take the parcel back and may consider future uses.
