The Southern Pines Town Council took several formal actions at its June 23 work session.
Appointments and development decisions: The council voted to appoint Reverend Dr. David Hudson as the ETJ member of the planning board to complete the balance of Jason Scrier’s term. Council also approved the written decision for PD‑03‑26 and separately approved MAP1‑26 after motions and seconds.
Null Road multi-use trail funding: Staff presented a DOT supplemental agreement (EB‑5864) that increases the funding available to complete the Null Road multi‑use path; the town does not anticipate local matching funds for this supplemental increase. Council approved entering the supplemental agreement and then approved a capital project fund amendment to recognize the DOT revenue and related expenditures so the contract can be finalized.
Minutes: Council approved the May 12, 2026 meeting minutes (motion and second recorded).
Procedural note: Motions were made, seconded and carried in roll-call fashion for the recorded items; the session was a work session and no public comment was received on the consent items at the meeting.
