County outlines milling and patching plans, proposes DOT coordination to aid oversized farm equipment during harvest

The county reported a milling crew working a roughly 2–2.5 mile stretch of Minneapolis Road to address bumps caused by underlying layers of old concrete beneath the asphalt. Staff said the operation will create one-lane work zones at points and that the county is prioritizing smaller repairs internally while contracting out larger pours.
Staff also reported that portions of the school loop (referred to as 235th) and 260th are closed for work and expected to remain closed through much of the harvest season, possibly until the end of October. To reduce disruptions for farmers moving oversized equipment, county staff proposed coordinating with the Iowa Department of Transportation on a case-by-case basis to allow scheduled passage at certain times. Staff suggested developing a mailing list for farmers and elevator operators and announcing a window (Monday–Friday, call-ahead only) when oversized movement could be allowed; weekends would not be included.
