During the Sept. 9 meeting the chair read correspondence from the Department of the Army and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (Region 7) regarding a Class 1 permit modification for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant. The notice references Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) permit procedures and identifies permit number IAIO7213820445.
The notice states that a May 2025 groundwater-sampling event at Trench 5 was deferred and that sampling will resume. It also extends the deadline for submitting the 2025 annual report to no later than Sept. 30, 2026 in order to incorporate the results of the May 2026 sampling. The correspondence listed a restoration-manager contact (Jim Busters) and provided a phone number and an email for questions.
Chair Sarah read the notice into the record and summarized the parts relevant to the county. The board did not take formal action on the correspondence during the meeting; the item was noted and filed as part of correspondence.
Provenance: The correspondence text and the chair’s reading are included in the meeting transcript and were read aloud during the Sept. 9 meeting.
