District gives timeline and photos for new Englewood High School; substantial completion expected end of 2027

District staff provided a progress update on the new Englewood High School project during the June 24 meeting.
Raphael Guzman and Jordan Miles outlined the project scope — roughly $232 million to build 53 new classrooms, two CTE pathway buildings, a student commons, science labs and an administration building — and explained that work is proceeding in four design and construction packages. Miles said demolition and excavation of most existing campus buildings is complete and that foundations and vertical construction will begin after Division of the State Architect (DSA) approvals for package one.
"This is the biggest project we've undertaken in the history of the district," Guzman said, and Miles added that the district is pursuing value engineering to keep costs within budget while preserving the project vision. The project schedules substantial completion by December 2027 and planned occupancy for students in August 2028.
Board members asked for tours and congratulated staff on progress. Trustee Margaret Turner Evans requested clearer communications about schedule milestones and Trustee Brandon Meyers asked staff to account for cost‑control measures. Staff said additional site visits for trustees and community stakeholders will be scheduled.
Construction is being phased so existing gym and auditorium structures will receive modernization work while new buildings rise in multiple packages; site photos shared in the meeting show cleared building pads and active excavation.
