The Aurora Committee of the Whole approved item 26-0370 on June 22, awarding a not-to-exceed $103,474.70 contract for maintenance/rehab of Well 119 to Municipal Well and Pump. Bob Lively of the Water Production Division described Well 119 (a shallow well in Ward 5 off Constitution Drive) and said the work will include pulling equipment for inspection, repairing the pump, motor and column pipe, and performing chemical treatment to rehabilitate the formation.

Details: Lively said the city solicited bids through OpenGov and typical well-rehab firms were invited; Municipal submitted the lowest responsive and responsible bid. Committee members asked about a roughly $20,000 gap between the low bidder and others; Lively explained that the award is based on the base bid and that the solicitation included approximately 25 separate line items, any of which can explain differences in totals among bidders.
Motion and outcome: Alderman Keith Larson moved to approve the contract; the motion was seconded by Alderman Sedlacek and recorded as passed by voice vote, 3-0 (Alderman Peloquin recorded “Aye”).
