Union City moves to seek Broadband Ready Communities designation with EACOG support

Councilor Kerns moved and Councilor Joyce seconded a motion to proceed with the public meeting and to pass a resolution enabling the application; the motion carried unanimously.
Minutes say the designation creates an opportunity for additional ISPs to enter the borough by aligning local permitting and planning with Broadband Ready principles. Council asked staff to proceed with the public meeting and prepare the resolution for formal action as part of the application process.
The next step is scheduling the public meeting and preparing the resolution for a subsequent council action that would formally authorize the EACOG application.
