Albany County committee authorizes five-year $1.2 million billing contract for Shaker Place

The Albany County committee voted to authorize a five-year agreement with Superior Back Office Solutions to perform billing, accounts receivable and collections services for Shaker Place Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Mark Olson described the procurement: the current vendor contract was ending, the facility solicited proposals from six vendors, and a scoring team that included Olson, his deputy Sean, Director of Finance Michael Cox and staff member Jennifer Cordisini recommended Superior Back Office Solutions as the highest-rated bidder. Olson said reference checks found no negative reports and the proposed five-year contract would cost $1.2 million over the term.

Committee member Rosano moved the motion and Ricard seconded. The chair called for a voice vote; the motion passed. The committee did not record a roll-call vote in the transcript beyond the voice vote recorded in the meeting.

Olson said the choice reflects staff concerns with frequent vendor turnover under the prior contract and the desire for a more stable billing partner. No member raised a formal objection during the discussion and Olson offered to answer follow-up questions as staff finalize the contract.
