Commissioners approve routine claims, invoices and a road grant modification

The board approved payment requests and invoices presented in the consent/claims portion of the agenda: a $3,000 request to Tobacco Valley Animal Shelter (to offset a $5,910 bill for a June spay/neuter clinic that sterilized 116 pets), an invoice of $1,667.52 to Sapphire Resource Connections for quarterly services, a $540 invoice to Environomics Incorporated for consultant work, $1,141.77 in legal fees to Urggon Alexander related to Magnolia Properties v. Lincoln County, and annual Montana Association of Counties dues totaling about $17,091. Where speakers asked for future in-person presentations — for example, a commissioner said, "I would like to have the animal shelter present when we do this" — staff were directed to coordinate meetings.
Separately, the board approved a grant modification to add $30,000 for chip sealing in the Troy district; staff said there is no cost to the county for the additional chip-seal amount and that the amendment will be signed after the meeting. An FAA airport grant oversight risk-assessment checklist for the Libby airport was discussed and deferred so the airport board can complete it.
