The actions matter because the appointments would fill commission vacancies and the approved plats — Olinger Farm First Addition and Remington’s Second Addition in Linn County — move to the City Council for final action and would determine the next steps for development consistent with Robins’ Future Land Use Map.
After calling the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m., Chairperson Tim O’Hara led an interview of P&Z candidate Matt Mitzel. Following the interview, O’Hara moved to recommend Mitzel’s appointment; Commissioner AJ Hester seconded the motion and all present commissioners voted aye. The commission then reviewed a resume for a person identified as McDonald; O’Hara moved to recommend McDonald’s appointment, Dennis Trachta seconded and that motion also passed unanimously. Todd Roberts was recorded absent.
On land-use items, the commission considered Resolution No. 2025-7, approving the final plat of Olinger Farm First Addition to Linn County, Iowa. Commissioner Jay Goodin moved to approve the resolution and recommend the plat to City Council; AJ Hester seconded and a roll call produced all aye votes.
Commissioners then reviewed Resolution No. 2025-8, approving the final plat of Remington’s Second Addition to Linn County, Iowa. Dennis Trachta moved to approve the resolution and recommend it to City Council; Jay Goodin seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Commissioners noted each plat’s conformity with Robins’ Future Land Use Map as the basis for the recommendations.
Jay Goodin moved to adjourn the meeting at 5:52 p.m.; AJ Hester seconded and the motion carried. The commission’s recommendations for appointments and plat approvals will be forwarded to the City Council for final action.
Attending were Chairperson Tim O’Hara, Vice Chairperson Dennis Trachta, Commissioners AJ Hester and Jay Goodin, Planning and Zoning Administrator Vance McKinnon, and City Clerk Lisa Goodin. The meeting convened at Robins City Hall and ran about 22 minutes.
