PennDOT's new 4‑way stop at 5th and Market prompts talk of flashing lights and extra cameras

Borough Manager and Chief of Police Dan Madgar said the Borough is looking to install permanent flashing lights on the new stop signs and may need additional cameras on 6th and 7th Streets to accommodate traffic that might divert around the intersection. Madgar also reported a separate resident request for flashing lights at the intersection of 5th Street and College Avenue that was received by the Manager's office.
Council President Sean Snowden commended Borough communications with the Beaver Area School District, bus transportation, the fire department and surrounding police departments about the new stop signs.
The work session did not include a formal vote to install flashing lights or cameras; staff raised the items for Council awareness and future consideration. The minutes do not specify funding sources, timelines, or procurement steps for any equipment.
