Bernalillo council approves $67,500 in Lodgers Tax awards for summer events and Route 66 projects

Awards approved and intended uses (as described in applications): - Bernalillo Blues Festival (Dana Koller): $20,000 for advertising, police and fire protection, and sanitation at Loretto Park (June 20, 2026). - Route 66 Centennial Celebration (Friends of Coronado and Jemez): $6,000 for advertising and event needs at the Coronado Historic Site (May 3, 2026). - Bernalillo Indian Arts Festival (Authentic Native Arts Assoc., Sara Chadwick): $20,000 for advertising, police/fire protection and sanitation at Rotary Park (June 13, 2026). - Route 66 public art Cadillac (Town of Bernalillo): $20,000 for capital outlay to refurbish a Cadillac public art installation on Main Street/Camino del Pueblo (completion by Nov. 2026). - KUPR 99.9 FM (Town of Bernalillo): $1,500 for station advertising of town events during 2026.
Director Jones presented the award list and the Council unanimously approved the motion to accept the Lodgers Tax Board’s recommendations. The town packet includes application materials and budgets supplied by each applicant; several applications reference additional outside grants and in‑kind support.
