Historic district commission accepts application for wooden hood at 945 Storrs Road, schedules July 8 public hearing

The Historic District Commission on an unspecified date voted to receive an application from Meredith and William McMun for a wooden hood (pediment) over a side entrance at 945 Storrs Road in the Spring Hill historic district and scheduled a special public hearing for July 8 (file number H0070).

The applicants presented drawings and photos and explained the project is intended primarily to improve safety by preventing ice and snow from sliding off the main roof onto an existing concrete landing and steps outside a conference room entrance. Meredith said the plan is to "put a pediment over it" so winter runoff will be deflected and the doorway can be used safely as an ingress and egress.
