The first motion, made by Councilmember Margaret McKean and seconded by Councilmember Whitney Learn-Conjeski, authorized Borough Engineer Dan Martone to undertake a topographic survey of the Water Lot at a cost not to exceed $4,000. The council approved the motion by voice vote.
A second motion, also offered by McKean and seconded by Roberta Good, authorized a fundraising campaign and the filing of grant applications to support renovation of the Water Lot. The motion limited Beaver Boroughs direct financial contributions to in-kind support as approved by the Borough Manager and directed council to reevaluate the matter in 36 months; it passed by unanimous voice vote.
The measures follow discussion framing the Water Lot as a candidate for historic-preservation work; the authorized survey will provide baseline information for future design and fundraising. Council indicated further details and any required appropriations will return to a future meeting for consideration.
