North Wilkesboro adopts multiple budget amendments for FY 2025–26

The North Wilkesboro Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on June 15 to adopt three budget amendments for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026: Budget Amendment #3, Budget Amendment #6, and Water/Sewer Budget Amendment #2.
Finance Director Anderson presented the amendments and said they are intended to clean up overspent lines without drawing from contingency. Director Anderson confirmed the town is anticipated to come in under budget for the fiscal year.
Budget Amendment #3 transfers a $50,000 state fire grant from the General Fund revenue line to a departmental supplies expenditure for the fire department (line items 10‑3585‑0700 and 10‑5300‑3330). Budget Amendment #6 contains numerous general‑fund reallocations across departments, including adjustments to advertising, departmental supplies, travel, contracted services, capital outlay, and salaries for multiple departments (governing body, administration, public buildings, police, fire, streets, sanitation, recreation, community development, legal, and finance). Water Fund Budget Amendment #2 adjusts water and wastewater plant maintenance and capital equipment line items, including increases to capital equipment for the water plant and changes to contracted services and overtime in maintenance lines.
Commissioner Michael Parsons moved to approve all three amendments; Commissioner Kristopher Hurley seconded. The motion passed 4‑0. The amendments direct that copies be provided to the clerk and the finance officer for implementation and recordkeeping.
