Mercer Island Utility Board reelects Brian Thomas as chair; Steve Milton remains vice chair

At the June 9 hybrid meeting the Mercer Island Utility Board approved the minutes from its March meeting and elected leadership for the coming year.
By voice vote the board approved the March minutes unanimously. The board then opened nominations for chair; members nominated Brian Thomas to continue in the role and the board confirmed him in a voice vote. With Thomas absent, the board proceeded to elect the vice chair; Steve Milton was nominated, accepted and was affirmed by the board.
Members used the meeting to introduce newly appointed board member Joy Licky, who described long-term Mercer Island residency and extensive experience in Pacific Northwest utilities. Staff and returning board members also introduced themselves to provide context for incoming members.
The board discussed scheduling informal site tours in July (small groups to comply with OPMA) and received a preview of fall work that will include budget and rate conversations and updates to the water-system and general-sewer plans. Staff will distribute a Doodle poll to schedule the July site visits.
The meeting adjourned at about 5:45 p.m.
