Brooke County Schools board recognizes Brooke High athletes for OVAC, Buckeye 8 and state track honors

The Brooke County Board of Education recognized a slate of Brooke High student-athletes at the start of the meeting.
Dr. Colabrese and Mr. Williamson presented certificates and public applause for baseball player Andrew Murdock, who was named to the OVAC first team and honored as OVAC Player of the Year for 5A and was also All-Buckeye 8. The board also recognized senior Zach O'Meara (OVAC second team, Buckeye 8) and multiple softball standouts: Avery Rado (OVAC first team, Buckeye 8) and Eden McKinney (OVAC second team, Buckeye 8), plus Jasmine Wood (OBAC All-Star and North/South All-Star).
In track, Marcus Reed was singled out for a season-best discus of 156 feet and a sixth-place state finish; Gavin Scott set a new Brooke program record in the 1600 (reported as 4:25.02) and placed fifth in the state AAA 1600 and sixth in the AAA 800; Elizabeth Edgel set a new Brooke school record in the 3200 with a time reported as 11:52.65.
Board and audience members applauded the students and were invited to remain for photos after the recognitions.
