Brooke County Board says superintendent met goals after closed evaluation; approves routine budget and personnel recommendations

The Brooke County Board of Education moved into a closed executive session at 5:31 p.m. to discuss the superintendent's evaluation and returned at 5:58 p.m. with no public action taken during the session.
Following the closed session, the board announced that it had completed the evaluation of Superintendent Jeffrey R. Crook and "found that he's met his goals to our satisfaction," the chair said. The board then approved, on the superintendent's recommendation, budget supplements and transfers and the payment of current bills by voice vote.
Earlier in the meeting the board approved a series of routine items including three nutrition-related requests from Director Kelly Smith, travel and conference attendance for district staff, field-trip and All-Star game approvals for the OAC program, renewal of a service agreement for the district's network/problem-management system and acceptance of a vendor bid of $17,853.76 for vehicles and a heat pump. Where recorded, votes were carried unanimously with "Aye" from the board and no recorded oppositions.
The board also read and approved several certified professional postings and additions to coaching and teaching positions, adding names for assistant volleyball coaches and other posts. The board approved an FMLA request for Zachary Tenant, a custodian at Franklin Intermediate, effective June 3.
No new policy changes or disciplinary actions were announced publicly as a result of the evaluation session; the public record shows completion of the evaluation with a finding that the superintendent met board-set goals and the approval of routine administrative recommendations.
