Vineland Council approves multiple ordinances, purchases and the amended 2026 budget

The Vineland City Council on June 23 approved a package of ordinances and the amended municipal budget.

Ordinance 2026-39, authorizing purchase of approximately 108 acres known as 1100 College Drive from South Jersey Health Systems with a 50% contribution from the Vineland Development Corporation replacing the Cumberland County Improvement Authority contribution, was opened for public hearing, had no public speakers, and was adopted on final reading by recorded vote (five yes votes).

Ordinance 2026-40, releasing and extinguishing public rights in portions of paper streets (Columbia Avenue and Washington Avenue), and Ordinance 2026-41, amending 2026-1 to correct clerical errors related to the purchase of 440 West Lannis Avenue, were each opened for public hearing, had no public speakers, and were adopted on final reading by recorded votes of five yes votes each.

Council also took final action on Ordinance 2026-42 (water/sewer rates); see related coverage. In addition, the council introduced for first reading Ordinances 2026-43 (acquisition of property at 1467 Spring Road; public hearing set for July 14, 2026), 2026-44 (fire department ordinance amendments), 2026-45 (purchase of 2040 Maple Avenue for $150,000 or other city-determined use), and 2026-46 (amendments to the center city redevelopment plan consistent with planning-board resolutions). Those items were passed for first reading and scheduled for July 14, 2026 where public hearings were required.

The council opened and closed the public hearing on the calendar-year 2026 amended municipal budget and adopted Resolution 2026-288 to adopt the amended 2026 budget; council thanked the finance department for its work.

Consent-agenda items were approved in a single motion with unanimous recorded votes. The meeting concluded after council comments and adjournment.
