Marysville council keeps pool admission free through 2026 season

The Marysville City Council voted to keep admission to the municipal pool free for the remainder of the 2026 season after staff reported continued strong patronage and ongoing work to diagnose an intermittent leak.
Courtney, the pool supervisor, told the council the pool has had high daily attendance, noting one recent weekday when the facility saw about 477 patrons. She described steps taken to locate a leak, including contracting a nationally recognized leak-detection team that will inspect the pool when it closes for the season in late August.
“I will tell you our auto sensor has been on just a little whack... we've been just mainly adding water when we have to, but that's just because it's extra bather load,” Courtney said, adding that the leak-detection team will perform two days of scuba-assisted inspection and technical review after the season.
Councilmember Chris moved to maintain free admission through the 2026 season, citing community access and the pool’s role as a public amenity; the motion carried. Council asked staff to provide a written recommendation to the leak investigators about whether to drain the pool for winter or leave water in the structure and to consider limited-hour closures when patron loads are very low.
Courtney said staffing has kept up with demand and that lessons and concessions continue under current operations. The council’s decision preserves free access for residents through the remainder of the summer calendar.
