Committee approves credit accounts, wall repair and equipment sales; reviews operational updates

The Oneida County Public Works & Solid Waste Committee approved a set of routine administrative and operational items at its April 16 meeting, including credit account applications, a transfer station wall repair, equipment sales and vendor vouchers.
The committee approved credit account applications for Cleary Buildings and Lake Partners on a motion by Billy Fried, seconded by Bob Almekinder. The committee also approved a transfer station wall repair not to exceed $20,000, after Bauknecht said steel protecting a concrete wall had already been repaired for $18,000 and that repairing the opposite wall would cost about $17,000.
On a motion by Robb Jensen, seconded by Bob Almekinder, the committee approved vendor vouchers as presented. The committee approved the sale of several pieces of equipment on a motion by Jensen, seconded by Almekinder. Interim Highway Commissioner Ben Rich reported receipt of a new John Deere tractor, that Lincoln County rented the tar and conveyor trucks for state highway work, and that road limits are expected to be lifted in late April or early May.
The committee approved out‑of‑county travel for a foreman and an operator to attend trenching & excavation competent person training on May 7 in Portage County; the minutes record Billy Fried was not present for that vote. The committee also authorized staff to proceed with Jewell to acquire a small portion of additional right of way along CTH N.
Other items discussed included corporation counsel guidance on hauling compost/fiber cake and a PFAS grant funding memo; no formal actions were taken on those discussion items during the meeting.
