Committee approves two trial runs to haul compost; staff to return with cost estimates

The Oneida County Public Works & Solid Waste Committee on April 2 authorized two trial runs to haul compost after corporation counsel approved hauling provided expenses are tracked.
Lisa Bauknecht, Solid Waste Director, told the committee that counsel had approved hauling the compost but advised the department to track expenses. Bauknecht said the department does not have funds to pay for hauling and that corporation counsel was looking into potential state funding. Dan Hess moved to start hauling compost and Robb Jensen seconded; Hess and Jensen later amended the motion to allow two trial runs and to return with estimated costs. The amended motion carried.
Committee members asked that the administration return with estimated hauling costs and recommended including those estimates when the item returns to the agenda. No contract or funding source was approved at this meeting.
