Zeeland planning commissioners review draft 2026 CIP, staff to compile ranked priorities for adoption

The City of Zeeland Planning Commission reviewed a draft combined list of projects under consideration for the 2026 Capital Improvement Project (CIP) program and agreed to a staff-led process to prioritize items for formal adoption.

Zoning Administrator and staff liaison Timothy Maday walked commissioners through the updated draft, explaining that the document compiles items submitted individually by commissioners and recalled the commission's Oct. 2, 2025 city bus tour as background for many suggested projects. Maday said commissioners could propose additions, combinations, or removals during tonight’s meeting and that staff would then compile all suggestions and ask commissioners by email to rank the resulting list in order of priority.

The commission agreed to pull highlighted items from the outstanding 2025 CIP list into the 2026 draft for consideration. Maday said staff will aggregate the email rankings and return to the commission with a finalized 2026 CIP list for adoption, with the stated goal of aligning the list with City Council’s Strategic Action Plan and recent goal-setting sessions.
