Rye schedules June 8 hearing on C-PACER district; town expects solar rebates and creates Energy Revolving Fund

Tom Pfau, chair of the Energy Committee, briefed the Select Board on next steps for the Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy and Resiliency (C-PACER) district that voters approved in March. He asked that the Select Board post notice and hold the statutorily required public hearing; the board voted to schedule that hearing for the Select Board meeting on June 8, 2026 (motion by John Tuttle; seconded by Rob Wright).
Pfau also reported that Warrant Article 27 passed in March created an Energy Revolving Fund; the town is receiving a check from sale of renewable energy credits for the fourth quarter of 2025 to seed that fund. He said two new municipal solar systems qualify for direct-pay tax rebates equal to 30% of system costs, which he said amounts to about $59,000; forms are to be submitted by May 15 and the town expects receipt of the funds in roughly 45 days. Pfau requested appointment as a second alternate to the Community Power Coalition of New Hampshire (CPCNH) if the Coalition approves an amendment permitting second alternates; the board agreed to delay appointment until the Coalition's amendment is finalized.
