Council appoints Nabeel Saad to Environmental Quality Commission

The Menlo Park City Council on June 23 appointed Nabeel Saad to an unexpired vacancy on the Environmental Quality Commission. Deputy City Clerk Sarah Sandoval explained the appointment process and noted eight applications were received. Two public commenters addressed the council in support of candidates; Pam D. Jones praised Saad’s previous independent redistricting commission work while Takia Smith described community engagement and nonprofit leadership experience.
Councilmembers made nominations by roll call. After multiple tallies and a change of vote by one councilmember, the council announced that by a three‑vote majority it had appointed Nabeel Saad. The City Clerk’s Office will contact the appointee with onboarding steps, and the city will provide standard ethics, conflict‑of‑interest and Brown Act training for the new commissioner.
