Bernards Committee honors local arts, proclaims Pride Month and accepts audit report

Resolution 2026-315 recognized Ridge High School’s production of Peter Pan and Wendy for multiple honors at the 2026 Montclair State University Theater Night Awards, including outstanding production and awards for scenic design and lead actress. Tim Lynch, identified in the meeting as the director of theater arts at Ridge High School, thanked the township and invited the community to upcoming performances. Committee members praised the students and school staff.
The committee adopted Resolution 2026-293 proclaiming June 2026 as LGBTQ+ Pride Month and highlighted local YMCA programs and Pride activities. Committee members described the resolution as an affirmation of inclusion.
CFO Sean McCarthy reported on the 2025 annual audit during discussion of Resolution 2026-312: the township’s current fund balance remained stable at about $24 million year-end and the audit included no recommendations. The committee adopted the audit resolution by roll call.
Other routine business included adoption of a revised construction fee schedule (Ordinance 2598) and tabling of salary-ordinance item 2600 due to a clerical error. Ordinance 2601 (salary adjustments) was introduced and scheduled for a July 14 public hearing.
What’s next: Ridge High School events were announced for November (fall play) and March (musical); staff said audit follow-up required none because the report listed no findings.
