Clinton County Legislature honors two local students with scholarships

The Clinton County Legislature recognized two area students with off‑track betting committee scholarships at its June 24 meeting.
Legislator Bernier presented the first scholarship to Braden Bushy of Northern Aderondex Central School. Bernier outlined Bushy’s activities, noting his participation in soccer and basketball, service as treasurer of the student council, work as a mentor and lifeguard for the NAC swim program, and leadership roles. Bushy is scheduled to graduate June 26 and will attend Sunni Plber in the fall.
A second Clinton Community College scholarship was presented to Aubriana, a Platsburg High School senior. The presenter highlighted her participation in flag football, Science Olympiad, student government roles and involvement with Upward Bound and scouting programs. Aubriana also graduates June 26 and plans to attend Clinton Community College this fall.
The chair encouraged students and family members to remain for the meeting if they wish but noted the evening could be long. The legislature congratulated both recipients.
The scholarship criteria announced at the meeting require a minimum 85 percent grade point average, demonstrated leadership and involvement in at least two extracurricular activities with one non‑sports activity. The legislature did not identify monetary award amounts during the presentation.
