Logansport board fines 1520 North Street $250 after repeated code violations

At the June 24 meeting of the Logansport Board of Public Works and Safety, staff recommended and the board approved a $250 fine for the property at 1520 North Street after multiple code violations earlier this year.
Randy, speaking for code enforcement, said the property is in the board’s multiple-violation process and that this is ‘‘its third one that it's had this year.’’ He described prior instances involving mattresses and other trash and said staff receive no regular communication from the property’s manager. "So, we're just asking if we place a $250 fine see if we can't get them to..." Randy said, noting the property owner was reportedly based in Cincinnati, Ohio.
No representative for 1520 North Street appeared at the meeting. After a motion and second, Mayor Jacob Amoss and board member Kelly Lehman voted to assess the fine; Levi Jones was recorded as absent. The board directed code enforcement to notify the property owner and document the assessment.
The fine is administrative under the city's multiple-violation ordinance; staff said prior violations were typically resolved only after staff intervention. Code enforcement will track payment or pursue further enforcement if the fine is not paid.
